Robert Andrew (Bob) Martin of Ft. Walton Beach, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 13, 2025. Bob was born to Millard and Mabel Martin of
Roanoke, VA on Sept 5, 1935.
Lt. Colonel Bob (Argo) Martin began his career in the Air Force at a young age to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot. A few short years in, he was bravely flying as a jet fighter pilot in the Korean and Vietnam wars. The primary goal he had every day while flying combat missions was to lead his team through battle and commit to bringing each one home safely every day. And he did so every time. While in the Air Force, he earned the Top Gun award signifying the pinnacle of aerial combat skill, tactical innovation, and overall performance. Bob embodied courage, commitment and loyalty. At one point when asked the question if he would ever go back to Vietnam, he answered "I will go wherever they send me".
Upon retiring from the Air Force after 24 years Bob continued his love of flying as a pilot with the Gray Eagles at Pensacola NAS for 23 years. This was truly a dream job flying tactical jets with close friends and fellow retired Air Force pilots. During this time he also had many opportunities to fly in Italy while also traveling throughout Europe with his wife, Barbara.
Bob's love of flying could only be surpassed by his love for classic cars, a reminder of "the good old days". Always a topic of show and tell for friends and visitors, he loved sharing his collection of personally refurbished cars, each with their own special story and memory.
Bob was married for 63 years to his high school sweetheart, Barbara, who predeceased him in October 2022. While he loved flying and classic cars, Barbara was, above all, his greatest love. He is blessed to now be reunited with the love of his life for eternity in Heaven.
Bob is survived by his sons Robert Martin Jr. (Marty) and Curtis Martin, of Ft. Walton Beach; daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Don Foster, of Peachtree Corners, GA; Grandchildren AJ Martin, Cody Martin, Jacob Foster, Hayley Foster and Alexa Foster.
Bob will be laid to rest next to his wife Barbara at Beal Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday at 1:00 pm.
Please keep Bob's family in your hearts and prayers.
