Robert X. Martinez, 78, of Rotan, surrounded by his loving family, was carried home to heaven on Monday evening, September 25, 2023. Robert was born on May 29, 1945, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, to the late Frederico Martinez and Eleanor (Ozuna) Martinez.
Robert met the love of his life, Susan Anne Weatherman, and they were united in marriage on September 15, 1967, in Arlington, Texas. Susan preceded him in death on March 2, 2022.
Since his early days as a young man, rather all his life, he was a rancher, farmer and welder. Robert enjoyed his farm, with his wife helping him run it. He loved and adored his family and loved to fish and hunt on his 800 acre property in Rotan. Robert was a master craftsman and loved to build things. He was a member of the Rotan Methodist Church.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include one son, Josh Martinez of Lubbock; three daughters: Jackie Martin and her husband Kenny of Snyder, Kristi Immitt and her husband Jeff of Plano, and Lynne Jenkins and her husband Brian of Abilene; four brothers: Jimmy Martinez and his wife Karen of Rotan, Ben Martinez of Rotan, Rene Martinez and his wife Edie of Richardson, and Hector Martinez of Odom; two sisters: Mary Helen Ackerman of Lubbock and Lupe Middendorf of Anna; a sister-in-law, Anna Martinez of Kingwood; eight grandchildren: Katie Pickrell and her husband Josh, Ryne Bennett, Ella Bennett, Sofia Immitt, Andrew Martinez, Faith Jenkins, Jeral Jenkins and Jacob Jenkins; three great-grandchildren: Keraleigh Pickrell, Brynleigh Pickrell, and Raeleigh Pickrell. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; granddaughter, Kera Danielle Martin; and a brother, Joe Fred Martinez.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st Street, Lubbock, TX 79410, or to the Rotan Methodist Church Outreach, 209 McKinley Avenue, Rotan, TX 79546.
