Celebrating a Life Well Lived

In Loving Memory

Robert Alan Matthews

Robert Alan Matthews, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born December 1, 1952, in Lufkin, Texas, to Floyd and Sue Matthews. The only son among four sisters, Robert grew up surrounded by strong family ties that remained the foundation of his life.

In 1967, the Matthews family moved to Crosby, Texas, where Robert formed lifelong friendships and deep roots in the community he loved. A hardworking and dedicated man, Robert built a career as a home builder and later supplied, delivered, and planted grass for fellow builders - taking pride in helping create places families could call home.

Robert was a devoted father to his two sons, Scott and Heath, and later a proud father-in-law to Kim and Megan. When the boys were young, he never hesitated to load them up - diaper bag and all - and head out for a day of adventure. He loved children and cherished time with his grandchildren, Carter, Cooper, Kase, and Tripp, who brought him immense pride and joy.

An outdoorsman at heart, Robert loved to hunt, fish, camp, and water ski. He enjoyed snow skiing and made many memorable trips with friends to Colorado and New Mexico. Some of his happiest moments were spent on Ranger rides - and a little "booze cruising" - in Carrizo Springs with family, making memories filled with laughter and wide Texas skies. He also appreciated life's simple pleasures - good Mexican food, a cold Miller Lite, and margaritas shared with those he loved.

Robert and his beloved wife of 46 years, Sandy, recently began a new chapter together after purchasing a horse property in Huntsville and were in the process of moving - a reflection of his adventurous spirit and love for the land. He was also a lifetime member of the Crosby Fair and Rodeo Association and the Houston Metro Go Texan Committees, proudly supporting traditions, youth programs, and friendships that meant so much to him.

Robert will be remembered for his generous heart, strong work ethic, and the deep love he carried for his family and friends. Those who knew him will forever hold close the laughter, stories, and quiet moments that made him so special. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the lives he shaped and in the memories that will continue to bring comfort for years to come.
