Robert "Bob" Scott McClaren, aged 67, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Born on December 12, 1958, in Irvington, NJ, Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, achieving the rank of AMS-1 before retiring. His dedication and service to the nation were a source of pride for him and his family. Following his distinguished military career, Bob worked in Quality Assurance for MARMC for over a decade.

Bob's passions extended beyond his professional life. He had a deep love for motorcycles and found joy in the open road. He was the former Vice President of the Indian Motorcycle Rider Group Chapter 1973. He also cherished spending time with his grandsons on charter boat fishing trips, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mildred McClaren; his brother, Ken McClaren; and his daughter, Dawn McClaren.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Grace McClaren, who resides at their home; his loving children, Jennifer McClaren of Virginia Beach, VA, Melissa Bienko and her husband Jason of Jacksonville, FL, and Christine Shillinger and her husband Reggie of Virginia Beach, VA. He leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Sean Bienko, Gracelynn Bienko, Victoria Bienko, Madison Shillinger, Robert Neisinger, Ella Shillinger, Emma Shillinger, and Mateo Shillinger. Bob is also survived by his sister, Linda Nordstrom and her husband Carl of Exmore, VA; his brothers, William McClaren and his wife Maggie of Monroe, New Jersey, and Andrew McClaren and his wife Theresa of Bonny Doon, CA; and his sister-in-law, Rose McClaren of Port Richey, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences at www.altmeyerfh.com.

Bob will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his zest for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
