Robert "Mac" McFarlane, a cherished member of his family and community, passed away on July 4, 2025, in Riverview, Michigan. Born on February 27, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, Mac lived a life rich in experiences and devotion to both his family and country.Mac proudly served in the Marine Corps for 13.5 years, displaying courage and dedication during World War II and the Korean War. His military service not only reflected his character but also served as a cornerstone of his identity, shaping the values he exemplified throughout his life.
In addition to his military accomplishments, Mac was a passionate member of the Elba Mar Boat Club for 55 years. His love for Hunting, Golf, boating and the water formed lasting relationships and countless memories shared among fellow enthusiasts who admired his spirit and dedication.
Robert is survived by his devoted children, Deborah (Richard) McFarlane, Pamela McFarlane, William McFarlane, Carole (Bruce) Cable, Kelley (Joseph) McPhail, and Kenneth McFarlane. He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to 14 great-grandchildren. Each of them carries forward his legacy and the indelible impact he made in their lives.
Mac was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty McFarlane of 67 years, and his sons, Robert (Rebecca) McFarlane and Christopher McFarlane. He was also preceded by his sisters, Edna Eastlake and Marjorie Ray.
Mac's personality, spirit and legacy rests in the cherished moments and lessons imparted to all who had the privilege of knowing him.Visitation will be held on July 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family Of Funeral Homes, located at 3200 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183. A funeral service will take place later that same day at 6:00 PM. Mac will be laid to rest on July 12, 2025, at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, with services commencing at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Karmanos Cancer Center in Farmington.
