In Loving Memory of Robert "Bob" Milton McLain

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Milton McLain, who left this world on September 1, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, on April 15, 1937, Bob brought warmth, wit, and unwavering love to all who had the joy of knowing him.
Bob was a proud United States Marine, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a friend to many. He shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with Frances, the love of his life, whom he affectionately referred to as "his first wife"-a phrase that never failed to draw a chuckle. Their bond was one of laughter, loyalty, and enduring partnership, and her passing in 2019 left a space in his heart that only memories could fill.
Together, Bob and Frances raised three children: Dana (husband Chris), Susan, and Douglas (wife Lyndsay), who carry forward his legacy of humor, resilience, and kindness. He was a proud grandfather to Christopher, Shawn, Logan, and Winifred, and a delighted great-grandfather to Raelynn and Vada. His family was his pride and joy, and he never missed a chance to brag about them-often with a twinkle in his eye and a joke at the ready.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Nancy Dayton and Barbara Sheri, whose memories he cherished deeply.
A man of the road, Bob operated his own long-haul trucking service, navigating highways with the same steady hand and quiet determination that guided his life. When not behind the wheel, he found joy in the simple pleasures: camping under the stars, riding trains with childlike wonder, watching birds with quiet reverence, and indulging in old western films that reminded him of a time he fondly called "the old world."
Bob had a gift for connection. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and his jokes-often corny, always endearing-were his signature. He never turned down a slice of pie, and he never missed an opportunity to make someone smile. His presence was magnetic, his laughter contagious, and his stories unforgettable.
To know Bob was to know warmth, humor, and heart. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life lived with purpose and joy. Though he has departed, his spirit remains in every train whistle, every bird song, and every shared slice of pie.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Findlay C Wylie Funeral Home Inc. 11311 Frankstown Road Penn Hills on Thursday, September 4th from 6-8pm. Services will be held on Friday, September 5th at 11am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Bob's memory by sharing a joke, watching a western, or simply taking a moment to connect with someone-just as he always did.
