Sgt. Mac -

You were THE BEST person that I worked for in my 8 years of law enforcement. I was unaware of your passing until today. To Mac's family, know that he live and loved to the fullest and will be walking the beat in heaven.

You will be missed and never forgotten.

To Marsha and Nicole
I have known Mac since High School and we have kept in contact all these years off and on. He spoke very highly of the two of you and loved you both very much. Mac will be missed greatly by all who knew him. I just found out today that he passed. I am very sorry for your loss. I have a few pictures of him from high school I would be happy to give to you, especially for Nicole. Let me know if you would like them. I loved Mac as a friend and I will miss him greatly. Anyone who met him was touched by his energy for life, his enthusiasm, his sense of humor, his storytelling ability, and his passion for being a father. Nicole, you mean the world to him and I am sure he will always be with you as your personal Angel. Godspeed to you Nicole and Marsha. My prayers go out to you during this difficult time.

I only met Mac a couple times and what an impression he left on me. He was there when "Bobby", as he called my ex (Robert Barker) was going thru a difficult period. Mac was always available if I need to talk and he would call to check on Bobby. Mac will truly be missed. My condolences to his wife and daughter.

Marsha and Nicole,

I spent a few months with Mac in Mosul. We shared a love for both the Browns and the Buckeyes and also enjoyed a drink or two together. He was a great man and touched a lot of hearts. I am very sorry for your loss. God bless.

Love those kids.

I don't need to tell you how much you meant to Mac. His world revolved around you. He loved you dearly. Please do not hesitate to call if there is anything we can do for you.

Mac,

It was my good fortune to partner with you for most of our year in Iraq. A better friend I have never known. You were a great guy and a true friend. More than a friend, my brother.

I will always remember you and the times we had.

Our deepest sympathies to Marsha & Nicole. Mac was certainly a unique person whom I got to know during the many years of "school bus" duty. We solved many of the world's problems but never could get a handle of how to fix the Browns especially after the Steelers beat them again & again.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you both, Marsha and Nicole. Mac, as a wife of one of your former officers, I witnessed how you as a Sergeant was so wonderful, so understanding and cheerful to all. There is no one else like you. I will never forget the time when I was only 4 months pregnant and I had to call my husband to come home and take me to the hospital because I was having contractions. You immediately sent him home and made sure that one of the guys from the unit drove him. Once I got to the hospital the whole unit was there and they stayed in the room with us for awhile. You didn’t leave until the baby (Gabriel, now 9 years old) and I were fine. I was always amazed how close you were to your “boys” in the unit. You were not only a Sergeant to them, but a wonderful friend. I thank you for everything you’ve done for us while Ralph was part of the police dept. Even though we moved South you were always in our minds. May you rest in peace and God Bless.

I will never forget you cuz. I love you and will miss you forever. Are family;s were closer than most. We lived as one big family next store to each other. I will never forget everything we had. The Browns game on my birthday, after you made it home for Iraq was the best. Writing this is harder than I thought it would be. I just want to tell you I love you and will miss you. No one will ever be able to tells us stories the way you do. You are the best.
Love you for ever. Your twin as Marsha keeps telling me.

Mac, I’ll never forget trying to eat in the dining facility in Mosul just hours after being hit by a roadside bomb. I was still shaken & I was wondering how I was going to make it another 10 months if I had another day like this one. Then you sat down across from me & said, “I heard you got blown up,,,sucks doesn’t it,,,but you’re back on the FOB & eatin’ aren’t you?” You added, “Let’s go get some coffee at the Java Hut, but,,,if you’re scared,,,just say you’re scared!” Those few words turned my “horrific incident” into minor table fodder. It let me know I wasn’t alone & gave me confidence that I would indeed make it out alive to see my family. I’m honored for having known you.

Marsha and Nicole,

My deepest sympathy and empathy ar with you both. Nicole, you are the light of your Daddy's life, and nothing, not even his beloved Browns brought more light or joy to him.

Mac you were one of my oldest and dearest friends, from rookie cops to old timers. After 22 years, Browns games will never be the same. But now that you have God's ear, I expect we'll be hearing you cheering over the Super Bowl! the best ones always leave us too soon.

God Bless You and watch over your family.

Marsha and Nicole, We have never met but my children have always called Mac "Uncle Mac" because they've known him most of their lives. We haven't been in touch for many years but have always kept him in our thoughts. Josh, Katie, and I will miss him. He was a great friend to me and my children when they were young. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Mac, so long to the best friend and partner I ever had. We sat next to each other in the police academy as rookies 25 years ago, I still tell everyone you are the one who taught me about law enforcement. Through thick & thin we were always there for each other, I will miss you. You don't have to worry about Marsha & Nicole the 'police brotherhood' will always be there for them. Partners forever!

I know you all referred to my uncle as "Mac" but as his niece, I called him "Uncle Bob." He was the greatest man I have ever known and I will miss him more than anyone can imagine. I love my uncle and I love love love my Aunt Marsha and my cousin Coley! I will forever miss him, there will be no story teller like him ever again. There will never be another uncle bob. Un Challe.

As one of his dispatchers, he was always a pleasure to work with.
I remember sending him on a call one night in the West End when he was still a rookie. While responding, he rather sheepishly called in a dead cat in the roadway. Since it was about 3 in the morning and no one was listening and I wasn't the most professional dispatcher (at the time!), my reply was "You didn't hit it, did ya?" His answer was "Yep".
For the past 18 or 19 years I have given him crap about that cat every time I ever talked to him.
I'm gonna miss him as will anyone who had the privilege to know him.

God bless you and your family. I remember when you told me you had the cancer and how you planed on kicking it. I knew you would fight a hard fight and not give up.

I will never forget our time in Mosul, Iraq and the fun we had at Police week 2006.
The time I lost the bet when Ohio State beat Penn State and you made me wear that ugly OSU t-shirt, sorry you never got to see the Cleveland Browns get close to winning a Super Bowl.

Everyone here will remember "Mac" as a funny, kind, loving father, husband and friend. "Mac" was one of my International Police Liasion Offiers in Iraq, and I will tell you he was also a very courageous man, I had the opportunity to stand side by side with this MAN under fire and not one time did he flinch!!! This hero, who was also a dedicated Policeman will be missed by all, but there is a bright side, his memory will forever carry on with his wife and beautiful little girl Nicole, whom he forever talked and bragged about!!! To "Mac" my time in Iraq was made easier because of you and your "Brothers in Arms", when you get to heaven, have that well deserved cold one and I hope the big man upstairs has an extra pair of socks for you...ha ha!!! "Malone Labe" and "Too Easy" my friend!!!

Marsha and Nicole
I want to thank you for sharing Mac with me. Mac was the glue that kept many of us together while we did our year in Iraq. The man brought light to some of the darkest places we had to go. I know he love you very much and spoke of you often while we worked. He was a friend when friends were few and was family when families were far away. His if you fall I fall attitude is what bonded us a brothers. He will be missed.

Marsha and Nicole,
I wasn't fortunate enough to ever meet Mac, but I felt like I had. While in Mosul, Jerry was always telling me something funny that he did or said and sending me pictures of this funny guy---in IRAQ---wearing Hawaiian shirts, with Cleveland Browns paraphanalia, carrying a GUN with a big smile and bigger dimples. You had to love it! Jerry really appreciated the bond all of those guys made over there and the whole "Molon Labe" theme that is so important to them all. I am still in shock that my "I will never get a tattoo" husband got a tattoo like the one Mac had (we had to pull it up on a computer in the tattoo shop!) Mac was one of the "Brothers in Arms", a great friend in every way, even when he was back in the states and Jerry stayed over there.
My heart goes out to you. We will not forget him.

Dear Mac,
What can I say to you that won't put me on your "list" again (for all that knows Mac, you know what list I'm referring to). Mac, you have been an inspiration and a role model to so many of us. Your life has meant so much to us and will be forever be a part of mine. I will always carry a part of you in my heart. I'm proud to have worked for you, I'm proud to have been mentored by you and most importantly I'm proud to have been your friend.
Nicole, your father was so proud of you and never stopped bragging about you. You were trully the sparkle in his eyes. Whenever you go to bed at night and think of your daddy, just remember, he is by your side watching over you.

Rest now my friend and I look forward to seeing you in heaven.

P.S. I'll keep this rookies straight for you.

Mac, this place will not be the same without you. For over 20 years we shared laughs, vacations, sorrows, and too many good times to mention. As a Browns Backer here in Central Virginia since 1992 and President of the chapter from '95 - '05, I had the honor of getting to know Mac. It truly was an honor by the way he carried himself. I looked up to him in many ways, both by his profession as a police officer and his passion for the Cleveland Browns. His passion earned him a Big Dawg Award from the local chapter, which I was proud to give to him. No one will know how many people's lives that Mac has touched, but the WORLD is better for him being here. We have lost a very dear friend and comrade, but I am sure that he is gazing upon us now, keeping watch over us and he'll have the best seat for all the upcoming Browns' seasons.
