Robert Brent “Bobby” McNealy, 60, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his sister and niece at the time of his passing.
Born on November 29, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska, Bobby spent his life rooted in the community where he was born. From an early age, he developed a deep love for history and learning—passions that would remain central throughout his life. His curiosity about the past extended into a lifelong interest in genealogy and antiques, pursuits that reflected both his intellectual spirit and appreciation for legacy.
Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Navy from May 17, 1983 until May 16, 1989. As a Petty Officer Third Class aboard the USS Peterson, he worked as a Fire Controlman—a role requiring precision and dedication. Following his honorable discharge from active duty, he continued to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserves. His time in the military was a source of quiet pride and enduring camaraderie.
Those who knew Bobby will remember him for his deeply caring nature—often expressed not through grand gestures but through quiet constancy. He had a sharp wit marked by sarcastic dark humor that could bring levity even to difficult moments. Music was one of his great loves; it filled his home and accompanied him on many of life’s journeys. He also found joy in reading and camping trips with his beloved dog, Thor—moments of peace that reflected his connection to both knowledge and nature.
Bobby’s family held a special place in his heart. He is lovingly remembered by his sister: Sarah Ann Carlin and her husband: Mike; niece: Starr Smith and her husband: Bailey; great-niece: Sadie; nephew: Sean Haupt; niece: Amber Hamilton and her husband: Dan; great-nieces: Stella and Olive; great-nephew: Archer; niece: Cheyenne Jones; great-niece: Marley; biological mother: Mickie Paglia; biological sister: Jennifer Leavy-Westphal (Ben); biological brothers: Bryce Leavy (Sharon) and Tim Leavy.
He was preceded in death by his father: Robert McNealy; mother: Sarah McNealy; and biological father: Robert Leavy.
