Robert T. Meggison, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, went to his heavenly home September 10, 2025 at 93 years of age. He was born October 17, 1931 in Central Lake the son of Carlton and Edna (McDowell) Meggison.
Bob graduated from Central Lake High School and joined the US Navy. Upon his return he went to work for GM retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Bob enjoyed working with his hands and woodworking. He built locally around the Central Lake area after retirement.
On December 31st, 1952, in Portsmouth, VA, Bob married Margie (Conner) Meggison. They shared 68 loving years of marriage. They loved traveling south in the winters, birdwatching, and going to church together.
Robert was an avid hunter who took one grand adventure to Alaska and several trips out west with friends. He enjoyed fishing and being in the outdoors. Bob was proud of his family and loved spending time them.
Surviving are his daughters Terry VanTine of Central Lake, Joanie O’Brien of Charlotte, 6 grandchildren Levi VanTine of Seattle, WA, Valerie VanTine of Chicago, IL, Joseph (Samantha) O’Brien, Jessica O’Brien all of Charlotte, Tina Hite, Crystal Hite both of Central Lake, great granddaughter Aubree O’Brien, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margie in 2021, his daughters Cheryl Hite and Patricia Robinson, sisters Mildred Blackwell, Alice Edwards and Betty Ann Glasgow.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Grace Community Church in Central Lake with Pastor Jim Hagler officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow in Southern Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to the church, 1817, S. Main Street, Central Lake, MI 49622.
