Robert Melino Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coast to Coast Cremations on Jan. 12, 2026.
Robert Henry Melino, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, FL, on December 26, 2025.

Bob will be missed by his loving wife of 33 years Paula (James) Melino, daughter Heather (Jason) Anderson, Raleigh, NC; step-daughter Lacey James, Watertown, MA; son Alessandro Melino, Webster, NY; two grandchildren Chesney and Cambree Anderson; brother Gerald Melino, Tucson, AZ; sister Marilyn (Ray) Brongo, Tucson AZ; nieces Cara (Paul) Bohardt and Kelly Melino; nephews Chris Brongo and Paul Melino; as well as his beloved dogs and faithful companions, Pippa and Nina.

He was predeceased by his son Anthony Melino, and parents Henry George Melino and Mary Ann Grella.

Bob was born in Rochester, NY, the son of Henry and Mary (Grela) Melino. He graduated class of 1961, from Jefferson HS. He was the second generation to study at Rochester Institute of Technology, 1961- 1967, earning a BSEE class of 1967, as well as an MBS 1975.

Bob began his career in 1966 as an Electrical Engineer at Xerox focusing on Electronics Imaging R&E where he holds many patents. He retired from Xerox in 2002.

Bob was a classically trained pianist; he had studied at Hochstein School of Music in Rochester, NY. His love of music was never ending. He was a huge videophile and audiophile, all the while embracing the latest technology with a passion. He 'wired' his home with custom AV/Closed-Circuit-TV/Internet
decades before it became a thing to do, and enjoyed showing the schematics of the system to whoever anyone cared to learn. Bob was proud to own and play a Hammond M-100 and C-3 with Leslie speakers.

During retirement he enjoyed traveling, playing his keyboards with friends in garage bands; playing covers from Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Kurt Cobain, among others. Bob fled Rochester winters to the warmth of The Villages, FL, where he enjoyed hosting family and friends, live music at the squares, attending concerts, arts festivals, and car shows.

We find comfort in knowing that Bob's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us and the memories we will cherish forever.

To honor Bob's wishes, in lieu of a funeral service, a celebration of life will be held in Rochester, NY when the weather is warmer, as Bob was not a fan of cold weather.

The details of his celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to The Hochstein School in Rochester, NY.
