Robert Menard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory - Broussard on Jan. 14, 2026.
Robert Wayne Menard, known to most as Wayne, of Youngsville, Louisiana, passed away on January 11, 2026, at the age of 69. Wayne was born to Lawrence James Menard and Joyce Lee Duhon Menard on February 11, 1956.

Wayne is survived by his mother, Joyce Duhon Menard; his siblings, Thomas Keith Menard, Randal Lee Menard (Gwen), Brenda Lee Guillot (Daniel), David Menard (Tina), and Lisa Anne Lavergne (Ricky); his former spouse, Michelle "Missy" McKnight Menard; his stepdaughter, Abby Fowler; and his step grandchildren, Everette, Aubrey, and Emily; as well as his former step son-in-law and friend, Brandon Fowler, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece.

He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence James Menard; his sister, Debbie Sue Menard Smith and her spouse Wilton; his maternal grandparents, Victorien Duhon and Agnes Benoit Duhon; his paternal grandparents, Eloi Menard, Sr. and Philomene Trahan Menard, and his stepdaughter Hannah Matthews.

Wayne was a true outdoorsman from a young age. There was no place he preferred being than in a tree stand, a duck blind, or on a good fishing hole. Between Louisiana and South Carolina, where he spent the last 25 plus years of his life, he found much joy hunting ducks and deer. Wayne was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed gun collecting, spending time at the gun range, and mastering the skill of reloading from a young age. He was the proprietor of "Guns and Ammo Shop" in Youngsville.

Aside from his hobbies and time spent in the woods, Wayne had a long work life. At a young age he learned the skill of welding, became a certified welder, a profession he did for many years. He later became a Certified Welding Inspector in the Oil and Gas Industry. Following a downturn in the Oil and Gas Industry, Wayne made the decision to attend Remington College where he obtained a certification in Auto CAD. He then began his career in Computer Aided Design and Drafting in Lafayette until moving to South Carolina, where he was gainfully employed for 25 plus years, working for two companies in the business of designing large scale commercial buildings like hospitals, etc. He was proud to have worked on the design project of the new NFL Pro Hall of Fame Building constructed in Canton, Ohio. He took pride in his work and had no immediate plans of retiring.

In Waynes' younger years, when he wasn't in the woods with his hunting buddies, he enjoyed playing and coaching baseball. He played baseball for over 10 years through the American League. When he aged out of playing eligibility, Wayne coached baseball.

While in South Carolina he was a proud member of the Southside Baptist Church community in Florence, where he was an active member of Church Men's groups. Wayne was the director of the Church's Safety Security Team at the Southside Baptist Church. When the Church's doors opened, Wayne was always there.

When Wayne wasn't working or in the woods he enjoyed gardening, priding himself on the flowers and plants he maintained in his yard, often excited to show them off. He was an excellent cook and truly enjoyed cooking and grilling, preparing delicious Cajun dishes while in South Carolina. Wayne was proud of his Cajun culture. He enjoyed speaking French, which was his first language. il appréciait la joie de vivre de sa culture cadjin.

Wayne was a gentle soul and a kind man with a gentle smile and a big heart. He loved his family and adored his stepchildren, step grandchildren and all of his nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all of those who loved him.

Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories in honor of Wayne's life on Saturday, January 24, 2026, between the hours of 10-12pm on at Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory Chapel located at 108 Hardware Rd., right off of Ambassador Caffery Parkway, in Broussard, Louisiana.
