Mr. Robert Eugene Meriwether, known affectionately as Robert, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, at the age of 75, in Newnan, Georgia. Born on May 6, 1949, in Alvaton, Georgia, Robert was a man whose gentle nature and handy skills left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jesse Lee Meriwether and Marie Hayes, as well as his seven siblings. His memory will be cherished by his children, Robert Lee Meriwether Sr., Ulysses Meriwether, Sean Meriwether Sr. (Reba), April Meriwether-Reese (Chris), Felicia Meriwether-Jaiteh, and Marcus Meriwether. His brother, Arthur Dino Meriwether, along with sixteen grandchildren, a multitude of great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, will also hold Robert's legacy close to their hearts.
Robert was a proud product of the Meriwether County School system, where he received his education before embarking on a diligent career. He retired after over 15 years of dedicated service at the Kmart warehouse and was the proud owner of Meriwether & Sons Towing Company. His work ethic was as strong as his character, and he was respected by colleagues and customers alike.
An avid fisherman, Robert found joy in the tranquility of nature and the excitement of a good catch. However, his greatest pleasure was spending time with his granddaughters and other family members, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Remembered as a man who could fix anything and who approached life with a gentle demeanor, Robert's absence will be deeply felt by many. His life was a testament to the love and care he gave to his family and the warmth he extended to friends. Robert Eugene Meriwether will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
