Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Homes - New BedfordRobert H. Michaud, 88, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at home with his wife and son by his side on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. He was the husband of Catherine A. (Almeida) Michaud for 57 years.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Lucien Michaud and Claire (Bourbeau) Landry, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going deer watching with his wife. He was a lover of many things but nothing compared to the love he had for his granddaughter Emma. Bob was mechanically inclined; he designed and built his entire house as well as held multiple patents for sewing machine parts. He received his MBA from Southeastern Massachusetts University, now UMass Dartmouth. He was the owner and operator of Bobcat Sportswear and Kaynyne Clothes Collection. Bob was also an assessor for the Town of Dartmouth for nearly 40 years. He was former Venerable of the Sons of Italy Julius Caesar Lodge 1880. Bob was also a member of the Bristol County R.C. Club.
His biggest pride and joy was his family, he loved spending time with his wife, son and grandchildren. He took pride in being a cook for the Army where he learned to provide for large gatherings. This translated into him being an excellent host and chef for family events. He adored his many poodles over the years and visits from his grandpuppy Stevie.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Almeida) Michaud; his son Charles Michaud and his partner Natalie of Westport; his brother Gerry Michaud; his grandchildren Emma Michaud, and Abigail, Noah, Amelia and Emma Salvador. He also leaves behind two close friends, Jean and Bill Whelan.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 10 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals 495 Park St., New Bedford followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford, and burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Humane Society & Shelter SouthCoast
