Robert Eugene Miller

Late Friday night, October 24, 2025, Robert Eugene Miller, peacefully passed away joining his loving wife Mickey. After the loss of his sweetheart, he continued to live independently until July of 2024. Despite facing health challenges in his later years, he never complained, he remained a constant example of strength and optimism.

Dad was born at home in Wellman, Iowa. The oldest of seven children to Harold Theodore and Rosetta Emily (Brenneman) Miller on September 5, 1932. He grew up as a Mennonite, and shared his many experiences with his family. Throughout his youth he was dedicated to the family farm and loved working alongside his dad. He took great pride in earning his GED later in life, a testament to his determination and perseverance.

He was united in marriage with the love of his life, Myrtle Ellen Gage, on January 8, 1955. They shared a special love and celebrated 62 years together. She was his “Everything”, as he was hers. Their example of love for one another and their family is one of their most beautiful, shared attributes. They met in Iowa and after dad joined the U.S. Airforce and got stationed in England, they lived there for a period of time, next settling in Utah after getting stationed at HAFB. He later converted to mom’s Catholicism faith. Their life was enriched with four children, Diana (Jerry) Mason, Kevin (Cathy) Miller, Carla (David) Parsons all residing in Utah and Daren Miller residing in Washington DC.

Dad loved sharing his military stories about his experiences being part of the C-124, Globemaster aircraft crew. He was so proud of his picture in the Stars and Stripes Newspaper telling the story of rigging and dropping by parachute. Dad held about every position in his squadron, including his career as a load master. Following his time in the service he worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Hill Air Force Base until his retirement.

A devoted mechanic, he had such a passion for rebuilding vintage cars, including his rebuilding of a 1928 Buick. His hands told the story of a craftsman, tools of creation and restoration, devoted to bringing life back into each vehicle he touched. He found joy in passing on his knowledge to others, including his son Kevin, and always lending a helping hand to all.

He reveled in the freedom of the open road at his own speed, riding his Harley Davidson with a smile on his face. Those rides created cherished memories including meeting his wife and working on motorcycles with his dad in his youth.

As life unfolded, he discovered new joys in building bird houses, and he found solace and pleasure in piecing together thousands of intricate puzzles. He was a huge sports enthusiast, dad especially enjoyed watching the Jazz, rarely missing a game.

Above all, he was the embodiment of compassion. His caring heart radiated warmth, forging deep bonds with family and friends alike. Through his actions, he demonstrated a profound love that transcended words, embodying kindness in every facet of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity and love, a vibrant reminder of the beauty that can be found in the simplest gestures.

His precious memories will live on in our hearts until we meet again.

We cannot conclude the obituary without mentioning dad’s precious four-legged companion Taz, she remained by his side until the very end.

Bob is survived by his four siblings: Charlene McLain, Frank (Sherry) Miller, Marcia (Butch) Rozinek and Dallas (Debbie) Miller, his four children, nine grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by, his sweetheart, Mickey, his parents, two brothers, Carl Miller and Marlin Miller, his brother-in-law Leo McLain, and a great-great grandson Maverick Montgomery.

The family is grateful for the love and special attention given by the IHC Hospice team, especially Julie, Amber, Chylessa, Mistie and Rick for all their loving care. Also, special thanks to Dr. Zachary Campbell and Dr. Jeff McNally.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.at the Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., followed by interment in the Ben Lomond Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.

Dad was a casual guy and loved all, please dress as you feel most comfortable.
