Bob was born June 16, 1950, to Robert C. and Marita (Hanger) Moore in Decatur, IL. He was a 1968 graduate of MacArthur High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Millikin University in 1972, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and the MU baseball team. He earned a Master of Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, an accomplishment of which he was most proud.
In 1971, Bob was named the first Director of Recreation at Progress School (now Macon Resources). He joined Decatur Public Schools in 1976 as a physical education teacher, where he taught at various buildings within the district. The second half of his career, he taught 7th grade science at Mound Middle School. After retiring in 2005, Bob returned to the classroom when science teachers were in great demand. Although he loved teaching in the classroom, his true passion was coaching athletics. He touched the lives of hundreds of young athletes in Decatur and Clinton, IL, where he coached boys and girls basketball, football and girls golf over a span of 30 years.
Bob's family was truly his greatest treasure. He married his high school sweetheart, Sue Jane Hill, and they enjoyed 54 fun and wonderful years together. They had two children, Angie and Matt, and what made them happiest was supporting their children's love for the game of competitive golf. They've continued this passion by cheering on their grandchildren at musical and stage events, as well as countless athletic contests year-round. Together, Bob and Susie have been their grandkids' biggest cheerleaders.
Bob enjoyed playing golf, bowling with the Retired Association of Teachers, making his annual trout fishing trip to Rockbridge, and "John Deere Therapy." He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved Fighting Illini football and basketball. He was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder, taught Sunday school, was a junior high youth fellowship leader and sang in the choir. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and was a board member of The Good Samaritan Inn, serving as Chairman of the Building Committee for the newly constructed Good Samaritan Inn in 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Marita; and his in-laws, Bill and Harriet Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Susie; daughter, Angie (Chadd) Carver of Rochester; son, Matt (Amanda) of Grimes, IA; grandchildren: Allie, Maci and Breck Calvert; Grayson and Emmy Moore; Isabella, Liam and Maxwell Carver; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Carole Hill; special niece, Tiffany Hill (Ian Johnson) and daughters: Ella and Evie; special nephew, Trey Hill.
Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Bob will be incredibly missed, and his absence leaves a hole in our hearts. But we rejoice in knowing he is living eternally with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family in care of Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes at www.brintlingerandearl.com.

So sorry to see this while I am out of town. Glad to know Bob and Susie as proud alums of Millikin University and supportive parents of a Millikin alum (Matt) and especially as an encouraging supporters of their daughter (Angie) as she competed as a young up and coming golfer in the Decatur Area Women´s Open. Bob was always a bright light, a great educator and encourager of youth in our community, and a welcoming friend to so many of us. I am sorry I cannot attend the visitation or service. I will be in touch, Susie.

The last time we saw Bob was at the South Shores Kroger. I had just shared with him that Eli got a scholarship and grants for a full ride at EIU and is studying environmental biology and is toying around with the idea of getting his teaching certificate. Bob was so excited and talked about how Science teachers are greatly needed. I will always remember him and his fun spirit. Somehow I remember his rule for kids in PE at Enterprise: "yackity yak, don´t talk back"!
Susie, Angie, Matt, Tom, Carole, Tiff, Trey, and all, we are so sorry to hear of Bob´s passing. He was always such a kind person. Our prayers are with you. Condolences from our family to you.

Bob and I were frat brothers at good old MU and he was also a groomsman on Terry and my wedding up here in Peoria. We lost touch with each other over the years but my respect for him will be ongoing. He was one of my best friends while I was at Millikin.
