The Mosbacher family were friends in New York and Houston. I even got to work in the office in Houston for a while. R.I.P. Great Memories

Admired by many, he was outstanding.

Bob and his family especially his Mom and Dad were the kindest, most generous and loving people. We lived on their estate in White Plains when I was little, and over the years in Houston will always fondly remember Bob’s dad visiting us as my dad worked for Bob, being one of the first five to begin the Houston office. My mom would make spaghetti dinners for them, which proved to be lovely evenings. Bob passed about two weeks after my Mom in 2010. May they all Rest In Peace. Always loved and always remembered.

He will always be remembered as the great man he was.

To the Mosbacher family,
I met Robert and Micah the year they got married through my husband Otmar Kolber, also in the year we were married. Las year, even though he was already not well, he agreed to chair the First Annual Consul's Regatta when Otmar approached him on my behalf. Neither of them are with us in this world today, but Otmar would have wanted to write something for he truly loved Robert. I am not as good a writer but I want you to know that my thoughts and my prayers are with you all.

To the Mosbacher Family,
My brother, Tom, and I grew up on the Mosbacher estate on Rosedale Avenue in White Plains, NY. My grandfather, Antonio (Tony) Germani was the caretaker of the estate until his death in 1949. My dad, Ben Germani, worked for the Mosbacher family for over 40 years. My twin sisters, Anne Marie and Joanne, were born in 1947 while we were living on the estate. I remember Bob during those days as a happy and fun loving individual which I am sure he remained throughout his life. Our family moved to Houston in 1952 when my dad was asked by Bob's dad, Emil Mosbacher, Sr., to help Bob in setting up an office there. It was a big change for our family, having never lived outside the northeast. But over time, it has turned out to be the right move for everyone. Both my brother and I give credit to Bob and his Dad for encourging us to become Petroleum Engineers, for whcih we will be forever grateful. We are both now long retired after over 30 years in the oil business, Tom with Texaco and myself with Chevron and Aramco in Saudi Arabia. I regret not having spent much time with Bob in my adult life, but one's own life seems to get in the way. At this time, our thoughts and prayers our with his wonderful family.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

To the family my prayers are with you in this time of grief. Bob Mosbacher was an inspiration to me when I was a teenager sailing blue Jay's on Long Island sound. His presence made huge difference even with those who did not know him personally. He will be missed.

While it is true that he dined with Presidents and Kings and Heads of States; it was his genuine interest in the lives of those who were commoners that expressed his humanity best.Mr. Mosbacher made poor people feel as though they were indeed rich. He had the innate ability to make paupers feel like kings and queens; strangers to feel as though they were true friends; and dreamers aspire to greatness.I am a beneficiary of his kindness. Mr. Mosbacher really knew how to treat others...because he cared about the feelings of other people.I learned through his generosity that I was rich beyond measure for simply having known him. I am honored to share of his greatness as a man; a leader; as a servant of the public good; as a patriot; as a man who really loved his family and friends.I will always remember Mr. Mosbacher- not merely because of the wonderful things he did for me; but, more importantly, for the glorious ways he gave to all of humanity.
God has a Hall of Fame and Mr. Mosbacher is for sure a member enshrined for his work on earth.

I had the great honor and privilege to start my career, right out of high school,at Mosbacher Production Company.
Mr. Mosbacher was truly a "class act". He will be missed very much, but will forever be in the hearts of all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers go out to Rob and the entire family.

Dede and Rob - It's been a very long time since we played touch football in your backyard under the watchful eye of your dad. He and your gracious mother always made our band of rag-a-muffins feel welcome in your beautiful home and at the yacht club as well. They were thoroughly poised and generous people, and I know they will be sorely missed. My very best to you, Lisa and Kathi in these sad days.

I knew Bob in sailing circles. He was gracious and kind to me and members of my family when he certainly did not have to be. He was in every sense of the word a real winner and, as so many have already said, a true Giant of a Man. Rest in peace, Bob.

Dede, Rob, Kathi and Lisa...it seems like yesterday we were all lined up at TCYC getting ready for our sailing lessons, talent shows, playing on the lawn with ice cream in our hands etc. Your Dad was always there for ALL of us...10 kids between our families! My memories will remain in my heart forever of those wonderful times.

My very first job was with Mosbacher Oil and Gas in the 1960's and Mr. Mosbacher was my very first boss.. what a wonderful person to work for.. I have had many bosses since him, but he was my most favorite.. I remember when his little ones, who are now grown with children of their own, were the very apples of his eyes and he was so proud of his young family.. my deepest condolences to all his family.. your Dad was a wonderful man and he will always remain one of my favorite people...

My prayers and thoughts go out to Bob's loved ones. We started working in the oil business about the same time, Bob in Houston and I, a geologist, in Lafayette, LA. Such an intelligent and fine man. He bought one of my first prospects (Cameron Ph.,LA.)that was the discovery of over 100 BCF of gas.We went in different directions from there but remained friends over the years.I'll miss Bob.

I had the privilege to have work with Mosbacher Oil and Gas, from 1973 to 1984. He was a Generous, Kindhearted Gentlemen to his employees and we were treated like a family. I feel so honored and proud that I worked for such a Brilliant Man. My heart is saddened and my prayers go out to his lovely family.

Dede, Rob, Kathi and Lisa, I was saddened to hear of your father's death. Another one of that wonderful generation has left us. My childhood memories are so much a part of your family - wonderful easter egg hunts; your parents dining with ours looking so elegant and handsome; Mom and Jane and their cigarettes trying to look so Greta Garbo like; pictures of our parents in Havana when it was legal and chic; stories of their sharing beds to stay warm at the lake for the Rice Texas weekends (we had no heat!); and Bob telling us the most difficult winds he encountered sailing were on Inks Lake, you never knew which way they were going to change (maybe he was just being nice to us amateur sailors). Mom and Dad moved to Houston in '48 when Dad went on his own as an independent geologist, he told Mother that they may be eating beans for awhile, but thanks to your Dad and Mosbacher Energy we were spared the bean menu. I remember your Dad being my dinner partner for one of the family weddings and thinking I had the most gorgeous and interesting man sitting next to me; he was a charmer. The last time I saw your Dad was in Mom's hospital room the beginning of 2000. He was looking very dapper as usual, ready for a TV interview, and Mom was giving him an earful of what she approved and disapproved about the Republican Party. He would just say "Oh, Betty". What a love he was; he will be missed.

I'm sorry for you loss. By his daily example RM taught those of us lucky enough to work near him. His personal warmth made us feel fortunate to be there. They just don't come any better than him.

You do not know me as I was not involved in Politics or the oil industry. In the 80's I was employed by Allright,Inc. as a Garage Manager. I worked for 10 years at the Esperson Bldg. (Which was the Bank of Tx Garage), then spent 5 years at the Main garage at Main and Clay. Mr Mosbacher parked on contract at both locations. I just want Mr Mosbacher's Children to know what a kind and generous man your Father was. (Like you do not already know) He was so gracious to me and all my parking attendants. Every Christmas I got a beautiful Fruit Basket from him and my workers all got"nice" tips. He always spoke to me and ask how my day was going.What a "Classy Man" We were very careful with his little silver mercedes. When he went to Washington I was as proud for him as if he were my own child. I shall always remember him as someone who was very kind to the "Little Man" God rest your soul Mr. Mosbacher

Mr. Mosbacher was a great man and a true gentleman, and people like him will always be missed and will be hard to replicate. Our sincere condolences to the Mosbacher family, specially Rob, may God be with you always.

I was mentored directly and indirectly by Bob Mosbacher - never was there a more gracious gentleman and source for encouraging young people to engage in politics, campaigns, and serving in public office. I had the good fortune to spend the first ten years of my career working for Mr. Mosbacher. What a great impression he made on a kid straight out of high school! The Mosbacher family has been a part of our lives since my brothers and sisters and I were born on their estate in White Plains, New York some 60-70 years ago. My dad, Ben Germani was Bob's dad's chauffer; my grandfather, Antonio was his gardener. I played on the estate with Barbara's daughter, Susan, and I remember Bob's brother, Bus, who was always smiling. Also, we fondly remember the excitement when they won the America's Cup. When Bob opened the Houston office, my dad was the Office Manager. Bob's parents and brother and sister as well as his children and first wife used to come to our house, where my Mom would make the best pasta dinner. My Mom just passed away and now Bob. An era has come to an end. We pray for both of them that they rest in peace.

I had the pleasure and privilege of working with Mr. Mosbacher at the beginning of his career in the oil & gas industry in Houston from 1959 to 1969. I will always remember him as a very kind and generous person, and am honored to have shared a small measure of this success.

Dede, I remember the first time I met your dad. It was a basketball sports assembly at Kinkaid. He was so young looking that I thought he was your date. He was so very friendly and seems to be always smiling. Your mom was the same as him. It was an honor to say I knew them both. Miss seeing you.

He and his family were friends for many years. Three of my brothers and sisters and I were born on the Mosbacher property in White Plains, New York. My parents, Ben (died August 28.1983 - Bob was present for my Dad's funeral) and Ann DeMicco Germani (died on January 8, 2010) worked for the family in White Plains, and my father moved us to Houston when he began his work for Bob when he came to Houston to begin his oil business. Many a time my sister and I went to his home on Memorial Dr. and played with his children. This all happened when he wife Jane was alive. Mr.Emil Mosbacher, Sr. and his wife were a joy to know. As children, when we returned to New York for visits, Mr. Mosbacher would take us by the hand and walk down the streets of New York City. My sister kept in touch with him until the time of his death. When Mr.Mosbacher came to visit Bob here in Houston, he would always come to our house because he like to have my mother's Italian food. He would even shoot some basketball hoops with us.
I remember his sister, Barbara, and her children, especially Susan.
So many memories... so much kindness from the Mosbacher family. May Yahweh be good to Bob and his family. He rests with his Dad and Mom, brother, Buster, and other family members.

Those of us who work in the Chase Bank Building have missed seeing his always smiling face walking through the bank lobby. His always friendly manner, speaking to everyone and asking how you are and have a nice day.
