Robert Prescott “R.P” Newton III, age 42 of Amarillo, passed away peacefully at home after battling cancer for several years.
A memorial service to honor his life will be on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georgia. The Rev. Jeff Messer will officiate.
R.P. was born on September 27, 1982, in Houston, Texas, to Robert Prescott Jr. and Carolyn Weir Newton. He grew up in Amarillo, where he lived throughout his life.
From a young age, R.P. had a passion and talent for soccer, playing for several club teams in Amarillo. His love for the game was reflected in his energy, and joy in being part of a team.
R.P. enjoyed life to the fullest and treasured every moment spent with his family, friends, and dogs. Music was another constant in his life, bringing him happiness and peace. He worked as a painter for various contractors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Newton; and his grandparents, Mary Frances and Grady Weir and Cleora Newton.
R.P. is survived by his son, Robert Prescott “Prescott” Newton IV of Amarillo; his mother, Carolyn Newton of Amarillo; his sisters, Amy Newton and her partner Trampas Crook of Portland, Oregon and Jennifer Newton of Amarillo; his nieces, Kaylee Taylor and Kalani Johnson both of Houston and Ellery Bailey of Amarillo; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to express their gratitude to BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their care and compassion shown not only to R.P., but to the entire family.
