Robert “Bob” W. Nolan, 73, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on December 5, 2025, at the Chambersburg ER surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on December 17, 1951, to Harold R. Nolan and Laura Smith Daley in Baltimore, MD. Bob graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1969. After graduating he spent his career in commercial construction working for several companies: Whiting-Turner Construction in Baltimore MD, Hensel-Phelps Construction out of Colorado, Clearwater Construction out of Florida, and Callas Contractors in Hagerstown, MD. This career allowed him to travel across the country and lead the building of several expansive projects, such as the Huntsville Prison in Texas, the Conoco Refinery in Oklahoma and the Santa Clara Convention Center in California. In 2004, he started his own building/remodeling business called IGWT Construction, where he worked until he retired.
Bob enjoyed riding his Harley, woodworking, camping, buying items “on sale”, hunting & fishing. In addition to all of his hobbies, he was also a “World Renowned Solitaire Player”. Bob dedicated his life to the church and was a member of the Brownsville Church of God. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and his family would often call him for advice that would always start off with “Let me put it to you this way…” Bob was known for always helping others and never wanting anything in return. He would literally give others the shirt off his back.
Bob is survived by two siblings, Linda Nolan Schaeffer (Waynesboro, PA) and Randy Nolan (Chambersburg, PA); the love of his life, his wife, Susan Wile, whom he married in 1977; a beloved dog Sasha; two sons, Robert W. Nolan (Shippensburg, PA) Joshua M. Nolan (Chambersburg, PA), and his daughter-in-law Jessica Nolan. Six grandchildren: Lily Nolan, Kyle Nolan, Sienna Scott, Kailee Nolan, Hayley Nolan and Gabriel Nolan. He also had several nieces & nephews, who’s children also called him “Pappy Bob”. Bob was looking forward to adding a new title of Great Grandfather in March of 2026. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sherry LaCasse (Waynesboro, PA).
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brownsville Church of God, 6390 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, PA 17222. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
