Robert Noonan Obituary

Robert "Bob" Noonan, 88, of West Hartford, passed away on November 9, 2025, surrounded by family. Bob was born in Hartford, CT on May 1, 1937, to Patrick and Maureen Noonan. He was predeceased by his parents and his three siblings.
Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Constance "Conny" Noonan. Married for 61 years, Bob and Conny were truly made for one another. A loving father to Paul and his wife Melanie, Peter and his wife Theresa, Karen and Susan. Predeceased by his second eldest son, Peter. It gives the family great comfort to know they are all together again. He was a proud grandfather to John, Thomas, Sara, Samantha, Megan, Jason and Nicholas, with a large collection of wallet-sized photos to prove it. He considered himself the luckiest to be great-grandfather to Hayden, Wyatt, Hunter and Emma. Bob was also a beloved uncle to his Zalucki nieces and nephew. A family man through and through.
Bob was a hard and dedicated worker. He worked at Aetna for forty-four years, where he began his career working in the mailroom at age 16 and retired as a Medicare auditor at the age of 60. As a man who didn't like idle hands, Bob came out of retirement to work at Halls Market for many years. He worked behind the meat counter where he won over the hearts of all his customers, one smart remark at a time.
Bob made everyone that came into his orbit smile and laugh. He was generous, caring, smart, quick-witted, fun, and a man of strong faith. If you were lucky enough to be a neighbor or friend, you knew of Bob's never-ending kindness; always there to lend a helping hand.
Bob loved spending time tending to his flower gardens. His innate green thumb being a trait that he has passed down through the generations. He loved being outdoors - sitting quietly, soaking it all in, and watching the hummingbirds come by. If he wasn't sitting on the deck or the front stoop you could find him in one of two places; at the kitchen table doing his word searches or rocking in his recliner in the TV room. He loved it when you joined him to watch a western or a Yankees game.
More than anything, Bob loved his family. He loved every single family outing, whether it was a weeks-long family trip to the beach or just an afternoon in Elizabeth Park. He loved to have fun, but even more than that loved to make everyone else's day fun. Memories of him are filled with outings playing mini golf, going to the movie theater, going to the carousel, backyard cookouts (potato salad being a must!), or simply going out for an ice cream. You knew how much he cherished every family moment by the countless number of photos he took - what a gift he has left us all.
To know him was to love him.
Calling hours will be Thursday, November 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
