Robert B. Norris, 82, died July 13th, 2012 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. He has been a resident of Johnson County since 1956. He resided in Franklin, IN. He was born Jan. 28 1930, in Evansville, IN. His parents were James Elmer Norris and Helen Barbara (Dosch) Norris. He married Mary Alice (Reynolds) Norris of Donora, PA. in Elizabeth City, North Carolina April 8, 1951. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by brothers, James Donald, Wilbur Bernard, William Clarence, Joseph Edwards, John Francis, and Harold E. Norris, and sisters, Mary Louise Lanham, Dorothy Helen Shaw, and Barbara Ann Francis. Surviving brothers are Paul Richard Norris of Fairburn, GA, Ralph Michael Norris of Forsythe, GA, and Thomas Elmer Norris of Fredricksburg, TX. Surviving sister is Katherine Sue Burleson of Alton, IL. Other survivors include four sons: Patrick (Teresa) Norris, Robert (Ina) Norris of New Whiteland, Timothy Norris of Naperville, IL, and Thomas (Nancy) Norris of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Ryan ( Cheyenne Couch ) Norris of Mooresville, Ashleigh ( Ryan Reichart ) Norris, Abby Norris of Whiteland, Andrea ( Mike ) Mehringer of Greenwood, Katherine ( Alex ) Springman of Indianapolis, and Brandi Norris of Rome, PA; four step grandsons, Aaron ( Lisa ) Stidham of Fishers, Shane ( Crystal ) Stidham of Whiteland, John Allen of Virginia, and James Allen of Florida; and 15 great grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. He was a machine operator for Western Electric Co. for 33 years before retiring in 1984. He was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1948 to 1952, on the destroyer USS Vesole in the Mediterranean Sea. He was a Scout Master for many years. He was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church at Whiteland for 37 years. Then became a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Franklin, In. He enjoyed fishing, reading and time with his family. The Rev. Peter Jessen will conduct a Celebration of Life, Sat Aug 4th at 2pm at The First Presbyterian Church in Franklin. Visitation will be from 12pm until service time. A private family burial will be Sunday Aug 5th at Young's Creek Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Madison St., Franklin, In. 46131.
