Robert Carl "Bob" Oatney

Robert Carl Oatney (Bob) was taken to his heavenly home on February 3, 2022 in his home at 8:30 in the morning. Bob was preceded in death by his mother (Elva), father (John), sister (Joanne), and brothers (Richard, Neil, Bill, James). He was survived by his beautiful wife of 61 years, Betty Lou, his six daughters, Lisa (Mark Tyler), Kim (Scott Romine), Deborah (Jeff Slagell), Melinda (Dwayne Arbaugh), Jennifer (Todd Goss), and Bobbie (Rhett Young) and his 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Bob was born on August 17, 1937 in Lancaster, Ohio. He attended St. Mary's school and later joined the US Army where he proudly served his country. Bob retired from Anchor Hocking after 30+ years and he enjoyed building churches and homes. He also enjoyed traveling to the Amish Country and playing Dominoes with his family, playing Euchre with his friends and most of all he loved working at his church, Pleasant Chapel Church of God. He will truly be missed.
Calling hours Monday, February 7, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Tuesday, February 8th 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the church. Funeral service for Bob will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 8th at Pleasant Chapel Church of God. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help cover funeral expenses. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Lancaster Military Burial Detail.
