Robert "Bob" Ortega

Robert "Bob" Ortega, 74, of San Benito, Texas, entered into eternal rest on February 27, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Sr., and Alicia Ortega; his brothers, Eddie Ortega, Richard Ortega (Vicki), and Arnold Ortega (Yolanda).

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Perla; his sisters, Grace Ortega Hebert (Louis), Norma Ortega, Laura Ortega Rizo; brothers, Omero "Homer" Ortega (Mandy), Danny Ortega; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his furry companions, Buddy and Guerita.

Bob served his country during the Vietnam Era. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and he did so love his Harley's. One of his proudest moments was being one of the winners of the CCA Star Tournament in 2004, where he won a truck and boat.

Bob will be missed by all who loved him. Special thanks to the Drs. and Staff of the Valley Baptist MICU for their devoted and tireless effort in his treatment and care. Special thank you to the angel who came to his side in the form of our niece, Erica. Not only did she offer relief, but she kept him engaged and brought smiles to his face when it was really needed.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St., with an interment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
