Robert Leland Ortt

Robert Leland Ortt was born on October 4, 1957, in Chula Vista, California and passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 7th, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, at the age of 68 years.
Robert is survived by his:
Wife, Kay (Spelbrink) Ortt; Son, Ryan (Melanie) Ortt of Coon Rapids, MN; Daughter, Lisa (Josh) Mahowald of Delano, MN; Grandchildren, Austin Eshelman, Baylee (Luis) Vidal, Keru Omad, Romie Omad, Jacob Johnson, McKenna Lindahl, Hunter Lindahl, Caiden Lindahl, Madeline Mahowald, and Keegan Mahowald;
Sisters, Debbie (Dave) Boileau; Linda (Greg) Weber; Gayle McMinn, John Erickson, and Carolyn (Randy) Koglin; Brother, Jerry Ortt; Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Lindahl; Parents, Gerald and Barbara Ortt, Ronald and Doris Spelbrink; Brother, Douglas Ortt; and Brother In Law, Doug Spelbrink.
Robert was a graduate of Brainerd High School and went on to receive his education in Electronics Engineering Technology from Willmar Area Vocational Technical Institute. He was hard working and dedicated. He spent the years of 1977 to 2009 employed as a Project Manager for Northern Telecom and continued working as a contractor before retiring in 2022.
Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, godfather, uncle, coach and friend. He was a devoted husband and father who lived his life for his family. He loved everyone unconditionally, and always had a smile on his face that lit up the room.
Robert's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed singing, swimming, karaoke, coaching, fishing, vacationing, cooking, playing his guitar, and so much more.
Robert was a man of great integrity, kindness, and generosity, and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was always optimistic no matter what came his way. He had a way to make everyone feel welcomed and heard. Those who knew Robert will remember him for his infectious smile, his love for his family, and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered.
He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
Robert was loved by so many. We will miss him dearly, but we know he is always watching over us. Our angel is in Heaven, until we meet again.
The family invites you to the funeral for Robert Ortt on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at 11am with visitation 1 hour before at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 S 4th Ave, Anoka, MN 55303, with a luncheon to follow at the church.
