Gabaldon MortuaryRobert Padilla, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on February 7, 2026, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Viola; his two daughters, Carol Lopez and Rebecca Padilla; grandchildren, Adrian and Maegan Lopez, Johnny Lopez and Michelle Duran, Veronica and Emily Soto, Kiana and Justin Junker, Brandon Lopez; great grandchildren, AriaMae Lopez, Maeci Lopez, Teddy Soto, Eli Soto; siblings, Mercy Turietta, and Phyliss Wade; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Shroulote, parents, Solomon and Carolina Padilla, numerous siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Robert took great pride in serving his country honorably in the United States Army where he worked as a Radio Operator. He then worked as a miner at the Kerr McGee Uranium mines in San Mateo, New Mexico. After the mines, he started his new career as a Correctional Officer at the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants, New Mexico and the retired in 2006. He spent his retirement years cherishing every moment of his life. He and his wife spent their days together, attached at the hip as they did from the very beginning. He enjoyed visiting all his favorite local shops to pick up his daily delicacies which often included oranges, bananas, and grapes. He looked forward to the day when he would meet Jesus and get to see his beloved daughter, and all his family and friends again in heaven. It is the one hope that he held dearly in his heart. We know he is now full of joy in paradise. A Visitation for Robert will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. with a Celebration of Life at 10:00 a.m. all to take place in The Gabaldon Memorial Chapel located at 1000 Old Coors Drive SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121. A Burial to follow to San Jose de Armijo Cemetery located at 2957 Arenal Rd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121
