Robert Eugene Parsons born September 28, 1940, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on August 14, 2025.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Barbara {Jarvis} Parsons; grandchildren, Jeffrey R. Parsons, Robert E. Parsons II, Britney (Jon) R. Myers, Jessica D. Parsons; great granddaughter, River Overly-Parsons and many cherished friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his children, Jeffrey E. Parsons and Timothy R. Parsons; his siblings, Richard (Judy) Parsons and Francis (Bud) Knotts; and his parents, Ronzel and Audra Parsons.
Bob graduated from Calhoun High School, in West Virginia in 1959, where he and Barb met. Bob was the sharpest guy at school according to Barb. The couple married and moved to Akron, Ohio in 1961, with everything they owned in the trunk of their car. Bob founded Midwest Fabrications Inc. in Tallmadge, Ohio in 1979. After 42 years of building and managing the successful sheet metal fabrication and welding business, Bob sold the company in 2021.
After raising their family in Tallmadge, Ohio, the couple bought land in the Uniontown area and built their dream home. Bob and Barb enjoyed many winters in Lakeland, Florida, where they spent many days golfing with friends at the Grasslands Golf and Country Club.
Blessed with a knack for storytelling and a quick wit, he always kept the room laughing. Bob loved sudoku, puzzles, Cleveland sports especially the Cavaliers, NASCAR, and mowing grass (in perfectly straight lines, of course). You would often find Bob tinkering around in the garage. He could fix anything, which is a skill he taught his boys. His generous heart and kind soul will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Calling hours will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, Ohio 44305 on Saturday, August 23 from 1:00-2:00 with a service to immediately follow at 2:00pm.
The family thanks Heartland Hospice for their incredible care. The family is also incredibly grateful for the many friends that have lent a helping hand and shown support over the last few months.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to be made in Bob’s honor to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
