Robert Pease Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Alternatives on Mar. 19, 2025.
Mr. Robert Allen Pease, age 84, of Grand Rapids went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday March 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years Deborah (Deb) Pease (Grant), his sister Diane Gessner, his sister-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Grant (Shumsky), sister-in-law Darcy Grant, his children Rob (Amy) Pease, Courtney (Craig) VanVliet, his grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Pease, Dylan VanVliet and Madelyn (Caleb) Rush, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert W. and Dorothy F. Pease, brother-in-law Howard Gessner, brother-in-law Dennis Grant, and grandson Nicholas Pease.
After graduating in 1958 from Union High School, Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy. He later went to serve the Grand Rapids community with the Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD), retiring as a Captain in 1998 after 34 years. Bob lived his life with a willingness to help others, always making friends and those around him laugh, and loved to spend time outdoors hunting and fishing. He cared deeply for his family and friends alike and is remembered as a family-first, hard-working, and fun-loving man. He set a tremendous example for others, always being present and helping in any way. He was a hero to his children and grandchildren as a recipient of several awards in the military and fire service, one of the founders of GRFD Honor Guard, one of the first Kent County paramedics, a founding member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, and a faithful Christian.
Bob wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 2pm to 4pm, followed by a church service, and then a meal at Immanuel Lutheran Church located at 2 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
