Robert Richard Pesack, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Shorewood on Sunday, December 7, 2025. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 16, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Bob was the son of the late Mitchell and Stephanie (nee Walanski) Pesack.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. His time in the service reflected his sense of duty, and commitment-qualities he carried into his work, his relationships, and his role as a devoted family man.
In his early years, Bob owned and operated Mr. P's bar in Joliet with his brother. An establishment he took great pride in, and where he met the love of his life, Ruth. It was the open road that kept him busy. For more than 20 years, Bob worked as a truck driver, driving for several companies, including Schneider Trucking and J.B. Hunt, before spending his last 11 working years driving and delivering for NAPA in Joliet. He took pride in his work, and he valued the friendships and camaraderie he found along the way.
Outside of work, Bob enjoyed the simple yet meaningful pleasures of life. He loved watching westerns on TV. He had a sharp mind and liked to keep it busy with puzzle books and computer games. Yard work was another one of his favorite pastimes, and he took satisfaction in caring for and improving the space around him.
Above all, Robert was a family man through and through. He devoted his life to the people he loved, and there was nothing he would not do for his family. Those who knew him will remember his generous heart, and steady presence.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Ruth Ann (nee Shaw) Pesack; his daughter, Stacey Shaw Flores; his grandson, Michael (Andrew Williams) Flores; sisters-in-law, Martha Pesack and Jyme (late Dennis) Burcenski; brothers-in-law, Michael Shaw and Dave (Kris) Shaw; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John and Joseph Pesack; and his sister, Catherine Regovic.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will live on in the stories shared and the lives he touched.
Funeral Services for Robert Richard Pesack will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at the funeral home chapel from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Will County Humane Society or Joliet Township Animal Control.
