Robert "Bob" Peters

Robert Daniel Peters of Oakes, ND passed away February 22, 2026 at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND.

He was born July 14, 1949 at Loop City, NE to Reynold and Betty (Karslon) Peters. He moved with his family to Oakes, ND in 1966 and graduated from Oakes High School in 1968. He then attended North Dakota State Normal & Industrial School in Ellendale. On August 21, 1970, he married Theresa Huffman and they made their home in Oakes where they raised their two children, Shannon and Patrick.

Bob worked for the Oakes Lumber Yard and later TSC Store in Oakes before starting his employment with Melroe/Bobcat/Doosan where he worked 41 years before retiring. He served his country in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged after 25 years of service. Bob followed sports and he loved taking in all the activities that his kids and grandkids participated in. He was an outdoors man and enjoyed taking care of his yard and helping his neighbors. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers.

He is survived by his wife Theresa; daughter, Shannon (Corey) Sandness, Verona, ND; son, Patrick (Sarah) Peters, Madison, WI; grandchildren, James Sandness, Anna Sandness, Marty Peters and Gavin Peters; brothers, Mike Peters, Jerry Peters, Ralph (Angel) Peters and Jack Peters; sisters, Cyn (Lynn) Zimbelman, Lori Wolf and Nora (Todd) Gruhn; and many nieces & nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jo, and brother Roger.
