Robert Francis Pina, Sr. of Rochester, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2025, after being stricken ill at his home. He leaves behind his best friend and the love of his life, his wife Eileen D. (Bagtaz) Pina with whom he shared a life with for 39 years. Born in Norwood MA, he was the son of Mary Ann (Mendes) Pina of Florida and the late Francis Edward Pina. He attended Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, where he earned his title as a baker, going on to work at Dorothy Jean’s Bakery out of Stoughton and Montillio’s for many years. He went on to work in construction for a few years, and then enlisted in the Army in 1993, where he was stationed in Hawaii for 3 years and was a proud Army veteran. After proudly serving his country, he became a Corrections Officer at the Department of Corrections out of MCI Walpole for most of his career. From there, his final assignment was in Norfolk before his untimely passing. Bobby was a light in people’s lives and would always be known when he walked in a room, with his infectious sense of humor and kind heart. He was a social butterfly, always making people feel special and comfortable, and was a personable gentleman with genuine care for others, making him unforgettable. Bobby was most proud of his boys Robert and Mateo and was a great Dad. He loved working out; it was all about longevity and doing what he could to ensure he was healthy. He had a lot of passions, looking at the stars with his son Robert or being a mentor to his son Mateo and an all-around father figure loudest cheerleader for all the boys on his son’s football team, He loved all the kids like they were his own. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
In addition to his wife Eileen and his mother Mary Ann, Bobby is survived by his sons Robert Francis Pina Jr., and Mateo Nathan Pina both of Rochester. He was the loving brother to Tracy (Pina) Letson and her husband Rich Letson, Susan (Pina) Burger and Carolyn Pina all of Florida. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Thursday May 1st from 4-7 PM, with Funeral Prayers at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bobby’s memory may be made to: All Kids Play http://allkidsplay.org/donate or a charity of your choice helping kids.
