Robert Andrew "Bob" Pleasant, born June 18, 1945, in
Des Moines, Iowa, to Ted and Evelyn Pleasant, grew up in Des Moines and attended East High. Bob proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 through 1964. As a young man he enjoyed hunting, fishing, drive-in movie nights with his parents and siblings, and working on cars. After his military service, Bob became an electrician, first working for himself and eventually serving as a foreman for Baker Electric. He loved animals almost as much as he loved his family. He enjoyed raising horses and always had a loyal dog by his side. In his early adult years Bob found great joy in bull and bronc riding, competing across states from Iowa to Texas. Along with raising his family, he loved training and riding horses on his farm in Earlham and later in Redding. As Bob entered retirement, he spent much of his time along the Mississippi River in Muscatine, fishing and relaxing with his dog. In his final years at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, he tended to flowers, bird feeders, and squirrel feeders. His care for nature brought beauty and comfort to those around him. Bob was well known for his love of classic cars, fishing, and cultivating beautiful flower gardens. He cherished time with family and friends and was always eager for fellowship. Anyone who spoke with Bob quickly learned of his deep love for his family, his strong faith in Jesus, and his unwavering sense of right and wrong. He will be remembered for his charismatic personality, his radiant smile and laughter, his booming voice, and his strong presence. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Evelyn; sisters Suzanne and Becky; and brothers Kenny and Gary. He is survived by his daughters Nicole (Rob) Martin and Suzanne Mason; his son Jesse (Teresa) Mason; grandchildren Sophia and Lillian Mason and Viv Martin; siblings Polly (Dennis) Bolich, Tom (Linda) Mason, Trish (Randy) Kirk, Donna (Matt) Hansford, Diana Townsend, Nancy (Trent) Sturm, and Tom (Linda) Mason; and many loving nieces and nephews whom he was proud of along with his children and grandchildren.
