I was about 6 when I first met Bob. I kept diving into the country club pool even though I had no idea how to swim. He taught me and showed me how to be brave and how to compete. In retrospect I owe him alot but only really figured that out in my own aging process.
Man I loved that corvette.

Bob was a wonderful man. When we would go to the YMCA with my dad when I was five, I was always excited to see him lifting and he always talked so kindly with me. I just found an article my mom saved about him and she wrote "Sheryl´s Favorite Guy" on the back.

I still remember Mr. Pleticha in the halls of Channing. He had a smile and personality that we all loved as kids. He is the reason I ever picked up a weight and at 41 still lift weights regularly. I am blessed to have known him.

I have on and off lived just houses from Mr. Pleticha for 40 years. He was a mentor on both physical well being/exercise, and community bonding. He was my grade school science teacher, and neighbor I could wave at. I have gone from enjoying his passion for science and very cool vibrant fish tanks and hamster cages, at a young age in class, to being 30 years old (18 years ago) and walking my dog in channing park while he placed fresh white boundary lines (baseball and soccer) on the lower level of the park on a crisp April morning and holding conversations with him. I wish his family and all friends peace and well being. And most importantly, Bob!, you've earned the right to stand at them pearly gates and wave in the next track winners.

My sincere condolences to your family for the loss of your love one. May the God of comfort be with you during this sad occasion and may his loving words at John 6:40 console your heart.

I knew Bob in the 1980's when we powerlifted, he was not just a gifted athlete but he possessed a great personality, I'm fortunate to have known him.

We are so very heartbroken here at Sherman to hear about Bob. We remember a burst of energy coming through the Wound Care doors carrying 2 huge pumpkins for us. One in each arm like it was nothing. The world is a better place because of him. Our deepest heartfelt condolences to his family.

I remember the day (or night) that Mary met Bob! There was just something in his eye and in the way he smiled and talked TO MARY; it was like he knew THE ONE had just walked into his life. Bob did have this rough macho exterior and you sometimes didn't know if he was joking or making fun of you - but inside, he was such a softie!

Mary, My heart hurts so much for you at this difficult time. I Pray that God comforts you and that family, friends, and of course the Sharks are right there by your side. I wish I could be there too. Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love you, Kathy

Bob was a great guy always for the kids

Mr. Pleticha was an exceptional coach and mentor to many children. We had the pleasure of having our kids run in his club (Elgin Sharks.) Bob's zeal was off of the charts and there will never be anyone quite like him. My favorite memories of him will be kept to myself, however, I was fortunate to have known him and he will remain in our memories always.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Pleticha. I remember him well. He was my daughter's teacher at Channing many years ago. My daughter is now 41. I agree he seemed rough around the edges but know he was well liked by students and staff. My deepest sympathy to his wife, family and friends!
