Robert E. Porell

Robert (Bob) Ernest Porell went to be with his Savior on April 30, 2025.
Bob was born in Billerica, Massachusetts on December 24, 1945. He served in the National Guard from 1961 to 1967. Bob spent fourteen years as a volunteer fire fighter and ambulance crewman, and became the ambulance coordinator for Beacon Falls, Connecticut. In addition to these duties he worked for Colonial Life Insurance Company for forty-five years.
Bob is survived by his wife Deb, to whom he was married for forty-two happy years.
It was after moving to Florida that following his wife's conversion Bob began to investigate the truths of Biblical Christianity. Some two years after Deb trusted Jesus Christ as Savior, Bob did the same. He devoted the remaining years of his life to serving his community through The Bible Baptist Church of Deland. He maintained their vehicles, oversaw the preparation and serving of meals at their special events, and was a cheerful help to anyone in need.
He was also known for maintaining a great lawn in spite of everything the Florida climate could throw at it.
Bob is also survived by his daughters Corinne (Paul Skrtich) and Shannon, and stepson Tyler (Kim) Benson, eight granddaughters, and his honorary niece Emma Fair.
His loss will be deeply felt but we rejoice that he is "absent from the body and present with the Lord."
There will be a memorial service for Bob Porell at The Bible Baptist Church, 872 Glenwood Road, Deland, Florida on Saturday, May 31, at 10 am.
