Robert Proctor Obituary

Robert "Bob" Proctor
Born: February 6, 1934 in Libertyville, IL
Died: February 15, 2025 in Woodstock, IL
A Priest, a Rabbi and Bob walk into a bar…
Robert "Bob" Ira Proctor, loving husband and father, passed away on Saturday February 15, at the age of 91. He told everyone for two and half years that he was turning 90, so by some standard he may have been 93 or 94.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ann; his children, Steve (Tara), Jim, Vicki (Steve) Ingraham, Andy (Joyce), Joe (Amy), and Liz (Mike) Schieffer; his 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He taught his family to think for themselves, to cherish an abundant life, and to share love, tears, and laughter as we authentically experience life balanced on the two rails of joy and grief.
Bob was a graduate of the University of Illinois in architecture, a builder of homes and bridges, business manager for St. Thomas the Apostle Church, a professed Franciscan, and a long-time member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Woodstock.
Throughout his life, Bob demonstrated care and love for his employees, neighbors and the community at large while providing for his family. As an honorary Irishman, he could easily burst into a song for no apparent reason or tell a joke, cut up a dance floor with his bride, play a polka on the organ, or sing to his sweetheart on one of their anniversaries. He didn't miss the opportunity this past summer to sing to her once again as they celebrated their 70th anniversary surrounded by family.
As Bob would say, "#39." No one laughed. "I guess some guys just don't know how to tell a joke." We will miss you, Bob.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, from 10 am until a funeral mass at 11am, with a luncheon to follow, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 2918 Country Club Rd, Woodstock.
Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial in Bob's name to Resurrection's Outreach. Visit www.davenportfamily.com for a direct link to give or to leave an online condolence for his family.

I was fortunate to meet Bob when I was employed by St. Thomas. He was always a gentleman and ready to lend an ear or hand if need be. May he rest in eternal peace alongside the angels and saints.
