Robert L. "Bob" Racette

Robert L. "Bob" Racette, 86, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in the early morning hours at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. He was born on September 25, 1938 in Clyde, Kansas to Peter Henry and Melise Marie (Dionne) Racette.
Bob graduated from Clyde High School with the class of 1956. He later attended barber school.
He was united in marriage to Mary A. Lapolice on May 1, 1965 in St. Joseph, Kansas.
Bob was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson, where he served as head usher of his team and attended perpetual adoration for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis Club, and was an active member of the Buhler Senior Center. Bob was involved with pool tournaments and was pool team captain for several years.
Bob was a barber by trade but spent his last 20 working years as a warehouse man at Dillons Warehouse in Hutchinson, where he retired in 2000.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Racette, of the home; daughters, Stacey Lee of Wichita, Lori (Jeff) Lookhart of Lee's Summit, MO, and Robin (Dave) Holt of Andover; five grandchildren, Konnor Lookhart, Lie Lookhart, Kaden Lookhart, Morgan Holt and Taylor Holt; and sister, Blanche Wilson of Clyde; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Raymond Lee; brother, Raymond Racette; and sisters, Theresa Schumaker, Rena Hebert, Pauline Brewster, Irene Kearn, and Shirley Wagner.
A rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m., Monday, September 15, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with a funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church. A graveside service will take place at 4:00 p.m., Monday, at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Kansas. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, September 14, at Buhler Mortuary, with family present from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Buhler Senior Center or Hospice and Homecare of Reno County in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
