If you knew Bob Rang, you knew a man whose heart was as big as his smile. On February 27, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan, our beloved Bob passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and the occasional perfectly timed joke. His life was a testament to the joy found in simple things and the power of genuine connection.
Born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, Bob proudly served his country as a Vietnam War Veteran and found joy in working the land as a passionate farmer. He dedicated years of his life as a Research Technician at General Motors, but let's be honest-his real titles were Office Trickster and Bowling League MVP (in spirit, if not always in score). His legendary bowling night stories could make anyone laugh, a sure sign of how much he cherished the friendships he built along the way.
Bob was happiest outdoors, whether tending to his flowers, chatting with his fish (yes, they listened), or simply soaking up the sunshine at his lake. His hands could fix just about anything-whether it was a broken gadget or a bad day-as could his signature smile.
His family was his greatest joy. Celebrating his 75th birthday surrounded by loved ones was a memory he treasured. Bob had a rare gift: the ability to make everyone feel special. His jokes (sometimes corny, always funny) could turn any gathering into a room full of laughter. Patient, generous, and full of heart, he made the world a little better just by being in it.
St. Peter's Lutheran Church in
Macomb, Michigan, held a special place in Bob's heart. It was more than just a church-it was a second home, a place of faith, comfort, and lifelong friendships.
Bob was welcomed into heaven by his parents (Donald and Elsie Rang), two siblings (Barbara Leverenz and Shirley Rang), and his beloved daughter, Kary Milenkovski. He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Beverly Rang; his daughters, Elizabeth (Mark) VanderVeen, Tanis (Rick) Redd-Harris, and Kimberly (Paul) Dunn; son-in-law, Bob Milenkovski; five siblings, Bill (Debbie) Rang, Dennis (Diane) Rang, George (Marilyn) Rang, Janet Hazelton, and Karen Sharboneau; eight wonderful grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His kindness, generosity, and legacy live on in each of them and in the countless lives he touched. In honor of Bob's giving spirit, donations can be made in his name to St. Peter Lutheran Church and School, helping those who need it most.
We'll gather to celebrate Bob's life on Saturday, March 8th, with a viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a service and lunch at St. Peter Lutheran Church,
Macomb, Michigan.
In the words of John 14:1-3:
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
