Robert D. "Bob" Rankin, 78, of Millersville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. He was the devoted husband to Janice (Conrad) Rankin, with whom he shared just shy of 58 years of marriage.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Robert M. & Ella (Wertz) Rankin.
Bob was a proud graduate of Penn Manor High School and was employed with Armstrong World Industries for over 30 years. Serving in the Army Reserves was something with which he took great pride. He was also a former member of the Board of Directors for The Gatehouse, Lancaster. Bob and Janice regularly attended the Willow Street campus of LCBC Church.
As a 3-time cancer survivor, he was proud to be the namesake of the Rowdy Rankins Relay for Life Team. Over the 16 years participating, Bob helped their family team to raise over a million dollars. He was also named honorary Chairman of the Lancaster Relay for Life in 2006, helping them to surpass one million dollars raised for the very first time.
He was a devoted husband who cherished his wife deeply, finding his greatest joy in the time they spent together. A true family man, he poured his heart into those he loved; always showing up with patience, presence, and unwavering support. His genuine kindness extended to everyone he met, leaving people feeling seen and valued. As a life mentor to his four grandchildren, he led by example. Always offering wisdom, encouragement, and love that will continue to guide them for years to come. Bob was also incredibly blessed to know and cherish his three great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Bob is survived by his wife Janice; daughters Stacie Skelly (David) Wendy Semken (Boyd); grandchildren, Taylor Skelly (Emily), Aaron Skelly (Madison), Mackenzie Semken, Joshua Semken; great grandchildren, Quinn Skelly, Drew Skelly, Nicholas Skelly; his twin brother, Ronald Rankin (Jeanne); his sister, Kimberly Crowe (Dale); and brother, Kevin Rankin.
