Mr. Robert O’Neil Reed, 75, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Robert will be missed by his daughters, Sheila Boaz (Casey) and Rachel Reed; grandchildren, Jesse Boaz (Erin), Nicholas Boaz, Brion Burroughs, Aaron Brenner (Melissa), Alyssa Lyon, and Autumn Lyon; great-grandchildren, Lane Boaz, William Boaz, Renee Brenner, and Archer Brenner; siblings, Terry Oledzki (Ted), Glenda Flowers (Dave), Allen Welty (Susie), Sherri Welty, Timmy Welty, Dawn Davis (Gordon), Diane Cegon (Paul), Inez McAlister, and Elvis Flowers who was like a brother, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Robert was born in Granite City, Illinois and lived in the Granite City and St. Louis area’s for most of his life before moving to Pooler, Georgia to be cared for by his sister. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Noel Reed and Lottie Inez Lynn; sisters, Konnie Marie Carr and Millie Hunt; grandmother, Lottie Lynn, as well as a niece and several nephews. He retired from Wood River Refinery. He enjoyed motorcycles, fast cars, and listening to music. He has been described as kind, fun loving, a hard worker, independent, funny, and being the backbone of the family. He was a great father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed.
Services will be held in Illinois at a later date.
