Robert Merle Ridenour

Robert Merle Ridenour, born Sept. 3, 1940, in Logansport, Ind., passed away on Dec. 17, 2025.
His family moved to Allen Park, where he was raised. After high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy, following his big brother's example. He served aboard the USS Rushmore LSD-14 from 1960 to 1964. Robert married Donna Katterman in Tawas in October of 1965. Together they raised their sons, Chris and Chad.
The love of his life was his music. As a child he took piano lessons and as a young sailor he taught himself to play the guitar. Donna followed him around mid-Michigan for 35 years. He could and would play music all weekend following a 40-hour work week at his regular job.
Besides being a talented musician, he was a gifted woodworker, creating many gifts for family and friends. He was a man of few words. His actions and guitar spoke volumes. If you listen, you can almost hear him and the angels tuning up right now.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna; his son, Chad; his sister, Rose; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chris; sisters, Dee and Betty; brother, Dale; and his in-laws, John and Mary Katterman.
