Robert "Bob" Rising of Newport., Kentucky, passed away on June 23, 2025 at the age of 90.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps during the Korean War (1954-1956). Bob was the longtime owner of Rising's Imported Auto Service in Newport, Kentucky. He took over the business from his father in 1960 and built his livelihood around his lifelong passion for cars.
Outside of work, Bob had a keen interest in real estate and investing, and was always ready to share financial advice withfriends and family. He also loved flying and spent many years piloting his own single-engine Cessna. But his favorite moments were spent in good company, especially over beers on the back deck, looking out over the wooded pasture.
He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Elly Lori Rising, with whom he made their home with in Cold Spring, Kentucky. she passed away on May 16, 2025. Also by his parents, William Albert Rising and Olive Louise Nagel, and a sister Florence Evon.
He is survived by Tanya Stephany and Richard Mezgar - Elly's children from her earlier marriage. Though not their biological father he was a steady and reliable presence who offered guidance in their lives. He is also survived by four grandchildren - Anna and Lukas Mezgar Colten and Brycen Stephany - as well as by his son-in-law Ed Stephany, with whom he shared a deep and enduring kinship.
He will be remembered for his dedication to work, his sharp eye for business, and, most of all, his unwavering devotion to Elly.
