Robert W. Rix

Winchendon – Robert W. Rix, 96, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024 in Leominster Hospital.
Robert "Bob" was born in Leominster on December 6, 1927, a son of the late John and Helen (Anderson) Rix. He proudly served his country during WWII; his US Naval troop was one of many who landed in Normandy, France on D-Day. Upon returning home, Bob began his career as a machinist for Simonds Saw and Steel for many years until his retirement.
Living on Lake Monomonac, Bob loved being out on the water. He enjoyed boating and spending time with his family. He was very passionate about The United States Landing Ship, Tank (L.S.T.) Association; he was one of the members, which are comprised of Navy and Coast Guard veterans who served in the Amphibious Forces aboard LSTs during the various wars.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Joan (Packard) Rix in 1992, and his longtime companion Rosalie Lemmon, who passed in 2022. He was also predeceased by his daughter Pamela Ormsby in 2007, daughter in law Cindy Rix in 2013, and Rosalie's daughter Cynthia Stevenson in 2017; siblings, David "Reggie" Rix in 2016, Donald Rix in 2018, and Joan Boutilier in 2021.
Bob is survived by his children, Cathy Eckert and her husband Larry of New Salem, MA, Sharron Rix of Wallingford, Vermont, Harry Rix and his wife Denise of Athol, Robert "Bob" Rix, II of Raymond, NH; two brothers, John "Jack" Rix of Leominster and Richard "Dick" Rix of Florida; Rosalie's children, Roy Lemmon and wife Kim, James Lemmon, Jr. and wife Corinne Nye, Robert Lemmon and wife Michelle Fay, Leslie Cella and husband Paul; numerous beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held in the Isabelle and Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg on Saturday, February 10, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A prayer service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster.
