Robert Rover Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perches - Graham's Funeral Home (La Paz - Graham's Funeral Home) on Mar. 19, 2022.
Robert "Bob" Burke Rover, age 74, of Las Cruces, New Mexico went to be with the
Lord, March 16, 2022, after a two year battle with cancer. He was a loving
husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was always ready to lend a
helping hand and had a passion of telling people about Jesus.
Bob was born December 3, 1947 in San Diego, California, the son of Robert S.
Rover and Martena (Burke) Rover. He had a love for farming that was cultivated
during family trips to Nebraska were his mother grew-up. He spent many summers
farming with his Uncle Bud. He graduated from Crawford High School, in San
Diego, in 1966. He attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis
Obispo, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Mechanized Agriculture, in 1970 and a
Master of Science in International Agriculture, in 1972.
On April 2, 1977, Bob was united in marriage to Peggy Glentzer in Visalia,
California. They moved to San Diego where Bob joined his father in the family
printing business, Rover Printers. Eventually Bob's love of farming moved his young
family to Nebraska. After their children were grown, Bob and Peggy moved to
Lakewood, Colorado where Bob did facility maintenance at the airport in Jefferson
County. After retiring they moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Bob had a genuine love for people; he acquired lifelong friendships along the way,
including those from his high school and college days, to his travels to Guatemala,
Uganda, and Kenya. In Las Cruces Bob was an active member of Triumphant Life
Church, the Mesilla Valley Ham Radio Club (KB6DYM), and the New Mexico Vintage
Iron Club.
Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy, and three children; Christy and her
husband, Tad Eckerle of Fort Worth, Texas; Julie Tomlinson of Hot Springs, South
Dakota; Randy Roveira and his wife, Thalia also of Fort Worth, Texas; three
granddaughters; a sister, Ann Bjorklund and two nephews of Greeley, Nebraska.
A private family service will be held at a later date, in Nebraska.
