Robert E. Russell

I know it's been a while now, talking to a friend from congress St. where we both lived as kids, his name came up, I remember so much about him, when he was studying at Howard U. His time in the military, and working at the Pentagon, Bobby is one of those guys, you never forget, I'm 76 yrs old, retired living in Central Florida, his memory is still with me.

I was stationed in Neu Ulm Germany with Sgt. Russell. He was a great Leader and Sgt. We always said to him 'your wife looks like Stephanie Mills'.My Condolences to Mrs. Russell and Family. R.I.P. Sgt. Russell

Hey, my name is Michaela Murray. I'm from Rutherford Opportunity Center School, in Forest City, NC. We was talking about 9/11. And I was just letting you, your family is in my prayers and for Robert, and i'm sorry for your lost.

I remember Bobby well. He was the uncle of my sister in law Lisa. I remember the Fourth of July cookouts he and Teresa used to have at their home and what a great host he was. I was only down the street from the Pentagon that day it happened and thought that I had accounted for all my family and friends but I didn't. My fondest memory of him was one Christmas Eve when I ran into him at a grocery store and we laughed and exchanged holiday stories and greetings, I'll never forget his laugh and smile that evening and how alive he was. It's been years but it's still just as fresh in my mind. Bobby you are not forgotten.

I happened to read an article today in magazine in September 2011 issue ('I go bowling') and enjoyed so much of what your niece wrote of her uncle. Please know that even still, prayers all around the world are still with you and your family. May his legacy continue always. God Bless you all.

My deepest condolences for all those that Robert has touched. I'm paying tribute to him on my blog as part of the 2996 project.

I just watched Camp 9/11 and saw your beautiful granddaughter, Taniya, baking the chocolate cake you loved to bake. SHE will carry on your legacy. She's a strong girl. I'll pray for your family.

I just wanted to let it be known that Mrs. Russell, you and your family are in my family's thoughts and prayers. Smile your beautiful smile and stay strong.

I transferred to the Pentagon from Alabama in 1999. I had a really hard time getting all of my paperwork in order for the move because I couldn't get anyone to help me and I'd never experience a Government move before. It wasn't Robert's job but he happened to answer someone else's phone one day. He did the paperwork for me and sent me websites and information he knew I would need to receive travel reimbursements during and after my move. After arriving at the Pentagon I kept his name and emailed him whenever I had a question or needed help. Again, it wasn't his job but he always did whatever it took to solve my problem. After seeing his name on the list of victims, I went to the memorial put together by family members at the Crystal City Marriott. I needed to put a face with the name I'd associated with the kindness of a stranger. I suspect that Mr. Russell touched the lives of many strangers and I wanted his family to know this one remembers.

I am a student at the University of Pittsburgh and I attended a memorial ceremony held at our university this morning at 8:46am. Community members were asked to place one flag out of over 3,000 on our own Cathedral lawn to commerate the lives that were lost. Each flag had a name of a person who lost their life that day and my flag bore the name "Robert E. Russell". I'm proud yet sad to say that I now "know" someone who lost their life in this tradegy. I wish the family and friends of Robert the best.

Our church, The First United Methodist Church of Jasper, Texas will conduct a memorial service on Sept. 8, for the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. Robert's name was selected at random to be read during the service. Our prayers go out to his family and all the families who lost loved ones on that fateful day. May God bless you and keep you.

I did not know Mr. Robert E. Russell personally, but what I know of him, I know that he is an honored hero in my eyes. He served this great nation, and has now lost his life serving her. My heart and prayers go out to Mr. Russell, his wife, Teresa, and their family and friends. May God bless Mr. Russell's family and friends, and may He strengthen them, through His grace.

I know that you don't know me and like many of us that do sign your guestbook you don't know them either, but I wish I had that chance to know you and your wonderful family. I was just browsing through and I came upon your girlfriend, Teresa and I was listening to what she had to say and I was very touch from what I heard.
