Robert Tyrone Rutherford, also known as Spoony-T, passed away on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, in his home in Cassatt, South Carolina at the age of 61. He was born on Wednesday, November 7th, 1962, in Valhalla, New York, to Earline Frierson.

Tyrone was a graduate of North Central High School and went on to have a successful career as a Carpenter, DJ and Gardener. He was a member of Hyco Missionary Baptist Church and was actively involved in his community. Tyrone was a sports fan who enjoyed watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Florida State Seminoles, the Miami Heat and his love was the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Tar Heels. He enjoyed spending time with family and was known as a jack of all things. Tyrone also enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with his family and friends.

Tyrone is survived by his mother, Earline Frierson of Cassatt, SC; two sons, Tyrell Rutherford of Columbia, SC and Antwon Rutherford of Atlanta, GA; his daughter, April Rutherford Wallace and her husband, Donald, of New Orleans, LA; his brother, Timothy Straggers, Sr of Cassatt, SC; three grandchildren, Aaniyah Sims-Rutherford, Antwon Rutherford, Jr and Donald Wallace, Jr; four aunts, Dorothy Rutherford of Paterson, NJ, Martha Faye Rutherford of Brooklyn, NY, Joan (Leander) Dunham of Bethune, SC and Rev. Hattie (Deacon Clarence) Hampton of Camden, SC; uncle, Deacon Willie J. Rutherford of Cassatt, SC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Tyrone was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roosevelt Rutherford, Sr; his grandmother, Sarah B. Rutherford; two aunts, Daisy Mae Rutherford and Sarah L. McLeod; and one uncle, Roosevelt Rutherford, Jr.

A funeral service in memory of Tyrone will be held at Hyco Baptist Church, Cassatt, South Carolina on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Tyrone will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
