Published by Legacy on Feb. 16, 2026.
Robert P. "Bob" Ryan of Inwood, WV, passed away on February 4, 2026 in hospice care at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center at the age of 79. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to John and Liberta Ryan (both deceased). He was also preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Ryan.

Beloved grandfather, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Bob was known to his grandchildren and many others as "GranBob". He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen (Paul) and Jennifer (Brett), his grandchildren, Owen, Jack, Olivia, and Max, his sister, Mary Lee, and his nephew and niece, Michael and Kelly. Known for his loyalty and fierce dedication to his family and friends, he also loved scuba diving, reading, playing games, and bragging about his grandchildren.

Bob honorably served his country for many years in the United States Air Force, Air National Guard, and FEMA. Throughout his life he was dedicated to the US Military, proud of his service and of being a veteran. His civilian careers were diverse, including New York State Trooper, firefighter, and registered nurse. After retiring, Bob continued his life of service as a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Inwood, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in memory of Bob Ryan to the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. Online donations can be made here https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/46400615. We recommend selecting "Voluntary Service" as the Program for Donation.
