Robert J. Ryan

Robert J. Ryan, 77, of Sugar Grove, passed away on January 26, 2017.  He was born on March 29, 1939.   For many years Robert owned and operated Clark Gas Stations in Aurora and Wheaton, IL. After that, he then began a  new profession in tool and die with L& T Mold.  He eventually retired from there and worked several part time jobs to stay busy. He and his wife Sheila opened their home and hearts to many children over the years.  He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church.  His hobbies included gardening and woodworking, which he truly loved.   Robert is survived by his daughters, Sandra Claypool (Bradley), Mary Dowden (Greg) and Susan Brass (Bill); his sons, Dennis Ryan (Jill) & Donald Ryan; his grandchildren, Eric Claypool (Katie), Miranda Ryan, Declan Ryan, Caitlin Dowden, Dr. Ryan Brass and Sean Brass.   Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Gertrude Ryan Devic and his wife, Sheila Ryan.   Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 5-8 P.M. at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove.  He will be lying-in-state from 9:15 until 9:45 A.M. at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 8S055 Dugan Rd., Sugar Grove, IL, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10 A.M.  Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles, Illinois.    Memorials in Robert’s name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
