Obituary of Robert Eugene Samon, Jr.
Robert Eugene Samon, Jr., 67, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on February 25, 2025, at North Memorial Health Hospital.
Born on March 6, 1957, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Robert was the beloved son of Robert and Patricia Dees Samon. Throughout his life, he lived in Florida, Arizona, and Iowa before making Minnesota his home.
Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1981. He later ran a successful bed and breakfast in Iowa for four years before earning an Associate's Degree in Hospitality and Event Management from Saint Paul College in 2011. Many of his employment opportunities throughout his life gave him the opportunity to help others. Most recently, he worked as a Special Needs Teacher Assistant at Hmong College Prep Academy, where he made a meaningful impact on students' lives.
Deeply engaged in his community, Robert had a passion for gardening and took pride in canning the food he grew. He loved hosting gatherings throughout the year, with Christmas being his favorite time to celebrate. A devoted collector, he had a special fondness for Disney memorabilia.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Samon, Sr.; his sister, Carol Ann Holloway; his brother, Gary W. Samon and his nephew Richard D. Samon Jr.
He is survived by his loving mother, Patricia Ann Samon; his brother, Richard D. Samon, and sister-in-law, Brenda Samon; two nephews; two nieces; and his cherished pets, Hercules, Zena, and Callie.
Robert's kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him
