Robert Sanders Obituary

Robert Wayne Sanders (Bobby) was born to parents John William Sanders and Nettie Joyce Miller on February 26, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at the age of 77.

Robert W. Sanders grew up in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from McCollum High School. Shortly after graduating, he joined the Army and served courageously during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star medal. He married Mary Jo Sanders (Collins) and they spent 58 cherished years together.

Robert was the jack of all trades. An expert hunter, fisherman, engineer, mechanic, pilot, musician and famously known as the teller of tall tales. If you knew him, you know what I mean. He was a straight shooter, he believed in a firm handshake. He was a man who took care of his family, and loved his wife to his last breath.

Robert W. Sanders is preceded in passing by his parents, John William Sanders and Nettie Joyce Miller; his sister, Brenda Sanders-Pierce; and his brothers, William Dee Sanders, John Richard Sanders, and Lonnie Eugene Sanders.

Robert W. Sanders is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jo Sanders; his daughter, Cheryl Sanders Laird; his son, Robbie Gene Sanders; his grandchildren, Noah Orion Laird, Rylee Nicole Laird, Leah Marie Laird, and Michael Terry; and numerous cousins. Robert W. Sanders will be greatly missed by all.
