Robert Edward Sansom

Robert Sansom, 89, of West Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 4th surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 23, 1936, in Ridgely, Tennessee, Robert spent nearly his entire life in the region he cherished so deeply.

Robert built a long and successful career in the insurance industry, where his honesty, compassion, and dedication earned the respect of both his colleagues and clients. Outside of work, he was an avid golfer who found joy and peace on the course, often sharing rounds and stories with friends and family.

Robert was a man of quiet strength and deep kindness, whose generosity and warmth touched everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather - always placing family at the center of his life.

He was married to his first wife, Shirley, for 20 years before her passing from cancer - a loss he carried with grace and resilience. In 1992, Robert found love again with his wife Lois - affectionately known to all as "Nanny" - with whom he shared 33 wonderful and happy years.

Robert is survived by his two sons and three daughters, twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and integrity.

His family and friends will remember him for his steady wisdom, his gentle humor, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Visitation will be held at Forest Hill funeral home at 2440 Whitten Road Memphis Tennessee on Wednesday November 12th from 9-10 am followed by a graveside service for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association in Robert's memory.
