Robert Anthony Scheid, age 92, of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on February 7, 1933, in Standish, MI, Bob was the son of Andrew and Mary (Derusha) Scheid. He graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1951 and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army.
On May 7, 1960, Bob married the love of his life, Mabel Youngs. Together, they built a life rooted in quiet strength and dedication. Bob worked for over 40 years at ANR Pipeline, retiring as Well Maintenance and Drilling Manager. His knowledge, work ethic, and steady presence left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.
A man of few words, Bob found joy in the simple things. He always had a tractor project underway and took great satisfaction in working with his hands. He was a quiet, steady soul whose presence brought calm and comfort to those around him.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Mabel; his son, Roger Scheid of Chicago; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.
A private family burial will take place at West Cemetery in Big Rapids, in keeping with Bob's humble and reserved nature. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Share a memory or express condolences at mohnkefuneralhome.com.
