Robert Paul Schlaf (Bob), born August 7, 1935, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 90 years. Bob is survived by his beloved wife Sue (Schultz), three sons: David (Beth), Eric (Linda), and Dan. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Helen Schlaf, stepfather Howard Shield, brother Jack Kern, and sister Nina Nason.
Bob was a civil engineering graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology and the owner of Schlaf-Sedig & Associates, Inc. in Itasca, IL. He was a compassionate man who volunteered at Alexian Brothers Hospital for over twenty years. He also served as an Elder at The Lutheran Church of St. Luke in Itasca, IL. Married for 69 years, Bob and Sue thoroughly enjoyed traveling, a good party, and entertaining friends and family. As a lifetime Chicago Bears fan, he stood by the team through thick and thin.
A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Friday, November 7, 2025, at The Lutheran Church of St. Luke Cemetery, 1301 Nordic Road, Itasca, IL 60143.
